So apparently everyone loves stripes. The post below this one. It's a hard act to follow, so I'll just keep it simple and go with a townhouse project I like very much. It's Katie Lee Joel's townhouse designed by Nate Berkus. It's the other historicity project I had promised to post along side Thomas O'Brien's apartment, a few posts down. Obviously there is a latent sense of history and historically inspired moments at play in this project. The gold boudoir or dressing room, the antique fixtures in the bathroom including a chandelier, french chairs in the kitchen, the Roman bust by the bed, a living room parlor complete with it's own small beautiful artifacts. But the project is selective in it's moments of the antique. They are carefully composed, arranged, and focused in a modern manner. And it's this duality of historical object and contemporary arrangement that I love looking for in the images. I'm starting with the dressing room because I love it. It's like a jewelry box within itself.
