My(tmds1) Projects: www.tmds1.comRecent Project Photographs: "The Room With White Curtains..."
This is a beautiful suspended track and curtain system I designed for a CEO's office in New York. It wraps continuously all the way around the room. It's a simple concept with beautiful results. The curtains are held off of the walls by about 6". The track itself is almost entirely suspended from the ceiling at 9' high. This total enclosure of the room creates a dream like, floating, and weightless atmosphere. While also providing privacy from inter office windows and a soft barrier for sound absorbtion, which was a critical concern of the client. In general, wrapping a room completely in a curtain like this is a great idea I think for small spaces looking for a lift. Or a way to be interesting in a total sense. It feels modern, minimal, classic, and soft all at the same time. Use minimal furniture to compliment. Browns and neutrals work well together and with white. So there is some classic Herman Miller seating and a desk here. Nothing too heavy. A patch cowhide rug from ABC Carpet to finish it off. A great little project. Now, if you love it, you can contact Roie at Horizon Window Treatments, which is where the curtain system came from for this project. At 1 347 733 3454, or at roie@horizonyc.com.

"White-Space"Inspiration From Interior Design Magazine, November 2009
Recently I've been looking quite a bit at what I'm calling whitespace. It's a term used in several contexts. Essentially to describe the manner in which absence can bind elements together. Often referred to in the arts as negative space.
'White space should not be considered merely blank space. It is an important element of design which enables the objects in it to exist at all. The balance between positive or non white and the use of negative spaces is key to aesthetic composition.'
-Wikipedia
Relative to interior design, I came across this example a year or two ago from an Interior Design Magazine article. The house is in Connecticut. Interiors by Cherie Zucker. In this project, we start with an almost entirely white space. Then color is then injected at points boldly and strong, but in a finite and elemental manner. Every piece of color and form to some degree thus becomes part of a spatial definition, the white space thus is holding these curated pieces together like parts of a Mondrian composition. It is museum like, but soothing. Discreet, and harmonious at once. And it's a very gorgeous and contemporary idea of space I think that can be translated easily into anyone's interior.

Meet Dr. No.
He's tall, thin, classical, and modern. All at the same time. You can put him inside. You can put him outside. He's indifferent to fluctuation in temperature. You can even stack him on top of himself. He's a Kartell, designed by Philippe Starck. Hence the Baroque quality. I love it.
